Subject: Beginning of the Run
Having the Dead back in town was such a treat. I am too young for the Uptown years. I did get a beautiful introduction to Jerry at an acoustic show with Kahn at the Auditorium in the summer of 1982 (no one has uploaded that one yet, but it was as sweet as I could imagine at 16 years of age). Saw two of the UIC 87 shows. No other city proper (yes Poplar Creek, Alpine, Rosement, and Brent's final show at the World) occurred until the Soldier Field run began. Hey, a super thanks to those sweeties at GDTS who take care of the locals every year.
It was a great high energy opening and really a sweet first set through and through. It was all so new to have Bruce and company. Loved the Crazy Fingers. Kind of knew it was a Dark Star tease at the time but it was real while it lasted and will have to do.
Thanks so much to all involved in making these recurrent, reminiscences so easy!!
